In an era of global uncertainty, the role of educators in driving diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) and belonging has never been more critical. As policies shift and corporations, particularly in the technology sector, dial back their DEI commitments, the ripple effect is being felt across society. Young people, growing up in an era dominated by social media, are constantly influenced by the messages they see online. When representation is deprioritised in the workplace and wider public spaces, it risks reinforcing inequalities and limiting aspirations. Marginalised communities continue to face systemic barriers, and without intervention, progress could stall. It is up to the education sector to ensure that every learner, regardless of background, feels seen, heard, and valued.
