Course summary
This full-day workshop supports school leaders and staff in developing school cultures where all pupils feel valued, safe, and included. Participants will explore the connections between compassionate leadership, belonging, and wellbeing in everyday school life. The programme includes practical sessions that explore topical issues such as online misogyny and AI deepfakes. It also focuses on developing strategies to support the community when confronted with potentially divisive content and considers the wider impact such issues can have on a school’s culture and community. Using case studies, student perspectives, and reflective activities, attendees will leave with clear actions to enhance conditions that enable all pupils to succeed and flourish within their school communities.
Topics covered
- Compassionate leadership: definition, behaviours, and application in practice
- Whole-school strategies to promote belonging, prevent bullying, and respond to discriminatory incidents, including understanding protected characteristics and identifying barriers
- Supporting LGBTQ+ pupils through student voice and practical actions
- Integrating equality, diversity, inclusion (EDI), wellbeing, and online safety into classroom practice, aligned with 2026 RSHE guidance, including practical sessions on issues such as online misogyny and AI deepfakes.

- Participants will gain knowledge and skills to lead inclusive, safe, and compassionate school environments.
